I am constantly amazed at the lack of imagination and knowledge shown when most Medium pundits talk about collapse, but have so little understanding about how to realistically face what needs to be done, how it can be done and what many people are already doing.

One white South African person thinks only scientists can solve these problems and when I challenged that assumption, she ended up using racist stereotypes of Indigenous people, as superstitious, ignorant and doing ‘primitive’ things like eating penises.

Clearly she has inherited colonist values and attitudes and cannot see that Indigenous people can have intelligence, wisdom and knowledge of the world. Scientists can have a narrow range of knowledge, but don’t automatically have the wisdom to see beyond stereotypes and racist tropes.
